Releasing next week, here is a good look at the Asics Base Camp & Mission Collection.

Set to be a size? exclusive release, the ‘Base Camp & Mission’ collection takes you on a journey to Peru and sees ASICS’ hiking-ready GEL-Citrek and GEL-Venture 7 retooled in stand-out palettes.

For those of you who aren’t clued up on your global trails, the four-day trek is regarded as one of the toughest out there. Weaving its way through the Andean jungle and mountain-scapes, explorers can expect to battle the elements, altitude sickness and wild terrain, but the risk is definitely worth the reward. After following the same path the Incans would have followed back in the 1400s, and rising 7,970 feet above sea level, you’ll find yourself at Machu Picchu – one of the New Seven Wonders Of The World.

While the majority of you out there won’t ever get a chance to witness the beauty of the ancient South-American site, it’s good to know there’s a duo of robust silhouettes out there to make storming the 45km trek a breeze. So without further ado let us introduce you to the GEL-Venture 7 and GEL-Citrek.

Don’t be mistaken, while the GEL-Citrek ‘Basecamp’ may be built for those easy-going days resting before your final push to the summit it still packs a serious punch. Built using synthetic suede and breathable mesh, rubber overlays to the toe box bolster the stone-coloured pair. Hits of neon green feature throughout, while ASICS’ revered GEL cushioning features in the heel to provide bouncy comfort with every step. Finishing the pair, a hardwearing rubber outsole prevents any slipping mishaps.

The GEL-Venture 7 is teeming with tech to face the toughest of excursions. Painted in a deep red hue, the robust runner sports a combination of breathable mesh and synthetic leather across its uppers, with yellow accents keeping you visible wherever you’re hiking. Below, an EVA midsole is strategically positioned with GEL tech in the heel: this cushioning innovation is built from a soft, supportive material that absorbs the impact of your every step to soften the blows of running. Just like the Citrek, this pair’s sockliner moulds to the contours of your feet to make each wear even more comfortable as the last, and the runners are complete with a rugged rubber outsole to keep you gripped on any terrain.

The Asics Base Camp & Mission Collection releases on October 18 via the size? website and in size? stores, priced between £60 — £75 GBP (approx. $73 — $91 USD).
